Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
Welcome to Questhall. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Questhall website, applications and related services (together, the “Service”), operated by Phantom Edtech LLC (“Company”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in the State of Texas, United States, with its principal office at 701 Tillery Street, Unit 12-2985, Austin, Texas 78702.
By starting a game, creating an account, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms, by our Privacy Policy, and — in respect of anything you pay for — by our Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Service. By playing or registering you confirm that you are 16 or older and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. Where the law of your country sets a higher age for consenting to the processing of your personal data, you additionally confirm that you meet it or that a parent or guardian has consented on your behalf.
Questhall tells interactive fiction, and fiction written to a player's own prompting can reach adult themes — violence, peril, moral compromise. We moderate what is submitted to the Game Master and we do not offer an unrestricted mode, but we cannot guarantee that every scene will suit every reader. Use your judgement about what you steer a story towards.
We may suspend or close an account we reasonably believe belongs to someone below the minimum age.
2. Your account
You can begin playing without an account. Once a game has run for a few turns, continuing it requires registration, and from that point your sessions, characters and history belong to that account.
You are responsible for the security of your login and for everything done through your account. Tell us at support@questhall.gg as soon as you suspect that someone else has access to it. Do not share credentials, and do not use another person's account.
We may suspend or terminate an account that we reasonably believe is being used in breach of these Terms or of applicable law.
3. What the Service is
Questhall is a text roleplaying game with an AI Game Master. You choose a campaign from the catalog, answer the opening scene in your own words to make a character, and play from there by writing what your character does. The Game Master narrates the consequences, keeps the record of the world, and rolls dice where an outcome is uncertain.
The Service includes:
- a catalog of campaigns, each with its own world, opening scene and cast;
- a Game Master that responds to what you write, in the language you write it in;
- a record of your character, inventory, relationships and open threads, kept across a session;
- a private notes panel, and settings that change how the game is presented and how difficulty is resolved.
Sessions are saved and can be resumed. Reading back through a story you have already played does not consume anything.
4. The Game Master, and what it writes
The Game Master is a large language model supplied by a third-party provider. You acknowledge and agree that:
- everything it writes is fiction, generated by software, and describes no real person, place or event;
- its output is non-deterministic — the same action, played twice, can produce different scenes, and quality and consistency vary;
- it can contradict itself, misremember, or continue a story in a direction you did not intend;
- nothing it writes is advice of any kind, and none of it should be relied upon as factual, medical, legal, financial or professional guidance;
- the underlying models are operated by third parties and may be changed, updated, or withdrawn without notice to you.
Where a scene resolves on a roll, the roll is made by us and the result is applied by us. Difficulty bands and dice behaviour are part of the game's design and may be adjusted.
5. Messages, plans and payment
5.1 What a message is
The Service is metered in messages. One message is one turn: what you write, and the Game Master's reply to it. Asking the Game Master to regenerate a turn produces a new reply and spends a message in the same way. Re-reading, browsing the catalog, editing your notes and changing settings cost nothing.
A message is deducted only after a turn has been written and saved. If a turn fails, nothing is charged for it.
5.2 Playing without paying
A new account receives a complimentary allowance so that you can play before deciding anything. Complimentary messages are not transferable, carry no cash value, and may be changed or withdrawn at our discretion.
5.3 Trial
Where a free trial is offered, it runs for the stated number of days and carries its own message allowance. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it converts into the paid plan you selected and your payment method is charged.
5.4 Subscriptions
Paid plans are offered on four rungs — Wanderer, Adventurer, Chronicler and Loremaster — each billed monthly or yearly. The rungs differ only in how many messages they grant per calendar period; a yearly plan buys a discount, not a larger allowance. Current prices and allowances are shown on the plans screen at the moment of purchase, and the price you see there is the price you are charged.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account, and you keep your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. We will email you three days before each renewal with the date and the amount.
Messages granted by a plan are for the period they are granted in and do not roll over into the next one.
5.5 Top-up packs
You may buy one-off packs of additional messages. Purchased messages are added to your balance immediately, are spent only once the current period's allowance is exhausted, and expire twelve months after purchase. They are non-transferable and carry no cash value.
5.6 Payment and refunds
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store your full card number. By paying you also accept Stripe's own terms.
Purchases are digital and are delivered to your account immediately, so as a general rule they are final. We do review each refund request individually and may grant one where the circumstances warrant. What is refundable, in what window, and how to ask is set out in full in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms and prevails over this section on the subject of refunds.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- write, solicit or store any sexual or exploitative depiction of a minor, in any framing, fictional or otherwise;
- plan, encourage or provide instructions for real-world violence, terrorism, or other criminal activity;
- harass, threaten, defame or incite hatred against any person or group;
- impersonate a real, identifiable person, or generate material about one that is defamatory, sexual, or presented as fact;
- extract, reproduce or resell the campaign text, the Game Master's instructions, or any other part of the Service;
- attempt to reveal, alter or circumvent the Game Master's instructions or safety behaviour, including by prompt injection;
- probe, scan or test the Service for vulnerabilities, or interfere with its operation;
- access the Service by automated means, or resell access to it, without our written consent;
- create multiple accounts to obtain repeated free allowances, or otherwise evade a limit, a suspension or a payment.
This list describes the kinds of conduct that are prohibited; it is not exhaustive.
7. Moderation
What you send to the Game Master is checked automatically, and material that breaches Section 6 may be refused. Refusals and flags are recorded and may be reviewed by us.
We may remove content, refuse a turn, restrict a feature, or suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms, without notice and without refund where the breach warrants it.
Automated moderation is imperfect in both directions. If a turn was refused wrongly, tell us; if something reached you that should not have, tell us that too.
8. Ownership
8.1 Ours
The Service — its campaigns, worlds, opening scenes, cast, cover art, Game Master instructions, code, design and name — is the property of Phantom Edtech LLC and is protected by copyright, trade mark and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of it to you. You may not copy, adapt, distribute or create derivative works from it without our written consent.
8.2 Yours
You keep ownership of what you write: your character, your actions, your notes and anything else you type into the Service.
8.3 What you may do with a story you have played
Subject to the terms of the model providers we use, you may use the text of your own sessions — including the Game Master's replies to you — for personal and non-commercial purposes, such as keeping, printing or sharing a story you played. Commercial use of that text, and any use that presents a campaign's world or characters as your own, requires our written consent.
8.4 The licence you give us
So that we can operate the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and process what you write, for the purpose of running, maintaining, securing and improving the Service. This licence exists to make the product work; it is not a licence to publish your sessions, and we do not.
8.5 Similar stories
Generated text is not unique to you. Two players making similar choices in the same campaign may receive similar scenes, and we do not warrant otherwise.
9. What stays private inside a game
The notes panel is yours. Nothing written in it is ever placed in the Game Master's prompt, on any plan — it is not a way to steer the story, and it is not read by the model.
What is sent to the model provider on each turn is the campaign's own material, a compacted record of the session, and your message. How that is stored, retained and shared is described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Services we rely on
The Service is built on third-party providers, currently including AI model providers for the Game Master, Supabase for accounts and data, Stripe for payments, an email provider for transactional messages, and a cloud platform for hosting. Each operates under its own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for their acts or omissions, and we may change providers.
11. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. It may be unavailable for maintenance, for updates, or for reasons outside our control.
We may add, change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Service — campaigns, features, models, allowances, prices and plans included — at any time. Where a change materially reduces what a current paid period provides, we will tell you.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE GAME MASTER'S OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, CONSISTENT, SUITABLE OR FREE FROM ERROR.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PHANTOM EDTECH LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL OR SAVED SESSIONS, ARISING OUT OF OR CONNECTED WITH YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR CONNECTED WITH THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Phantom Edtech LLC and its officers, employees and agents against any claim, liability, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your breach of these Terms; (c) anything you write into the Service; or (d) your infringement of the rights of a third party.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from your account settings, or by writing to support@questhall.gg.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for breach of these Terms or of applicable law. On termination your right to use the Service ends immediately; any remaining paid period, plan allowance and unexpired top-up messages are forfeited; and we may delete your account data and sessions after a reasonable retention period. Section 15 of the Refund Policy governs whether anything is refunded.
The sections that by their nature survive termination — ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity — continue to apply.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When a change is material we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located in Travis County, Texas shall have jurisdiction over any dispute — save that nothing here deprives you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country in which you live, or of the right to bring proceedings there where that law gives it to you.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it shall be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary and the remainder shall continue in full force.
19. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Phantom Edtech LLC in respect of the Service, and supersede any earlier understanding on the subject.
